Our Story

LUMINOUS ORGANISATION

Our Story

Luminous Organization, formerly known as Zion City Foundation, was originally registered in 2018 as a Trust dedicated to empowering young people through education, leadership, sustainable skills development, and psychosocial support.

Over the years, Zion City Foundation successfully implemented programs that nurtured youth potential, promoted gender equality, and encouraged community-driven change. Through mentorship, scholarships, skills training, and leadership development, the organization impacted over 1,000 young people, while also providing vital psychosocial support.

Building on this strong foundation and growing impact, the organization is now rebranding and re-registering as a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) under the new name Luminous Organization. This transition marks a new chapter—broadening our scope, strengthening our systems, and deepening our commitment to communities.

Luminous Organization continues its core mission of lighting up the world by equipping youth and women to lead brighter, more resilient futures.

Our Vision

Thriving and resilient youth and women, leading brighter futures for themselves and driving positive change in their communities.

Our Mission

To create safe and nurturing spaces for youth and women, equipping them with education, leadership, psychosocial support, and sustainable skills to promote personal growth and community development.

At Luminous Organization, we believe that every spark of potential deserves the chance to shine. Born in the heart of Victoria Falls, our journey began with a simple dream — to light up lives through education, empowerment, and compassion.

Guided by the vision of thriving and resilient youth and women leading brighter futures, we create safe, nurturing spaces where individuals can learn, heal, and grow. Through mentorship, scholarships, skills training, and community-driven initiatives, we are helping youth and women build confidence, discover purpose, and lead change where they are.

Education

Skills Training

Our work extends beyond programs. It’s about restoring dignity, nurturing dreams, and breaking cycles of limitation. From rural girls finding their voices in our clubs, to young people gaining livelihoods through sustainable farming, every

story reminds us why we exist: to light the way toward hope and possibility.

Together with our partners, volunteers, and supporters, we continue to live our mission – lighting up the world, one life, one community, one dream at a time.

Our Work

MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS

Through our Youth Mentorship initiative, we connect young people with role models who help them set goals, build resilience, and make informed decisions about education and careers.

Our Women’s Empowerment Circles create safe spaces for women to learn from one another, build leadership skills, and gain the confidence to pursue personal and professional growth.

The Professional Mentorship stream pairs emerging professionals with experienced leaders for career guidance, skills development, and networking opportunities.

For those navigating transitions, our Life Skills and Personal Growth Program focuses on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and wellness — helping participants thrive beyond the classroom or workplace. We also run Peer Mentorship Clubs that encourage young leaders to support and motivate one another, building a culture of empathy and collaboration.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

The Scholarship Program provides vital educational support to children and youth from vulnerable backgrounds, ensuring they can stay in school and focus on learning. Each scholarship pack includes school uniforms, stationery, sanitary wear for girls, and school fees, removing barriers that often keep learners from reaching their full potential.

Beyond financial assistance, the program restores dignity, builds confidence, and creates opportunities for students to thrive academically and socially. With this support, learners not only gain access to education but also hope for a brighter future.

FEMINIST AGRO-ECOLOGY SCHOOL

The Feminist Agro-ecology Model School is a transformative initiative empowering women and youth through sustainable agriculture, small grains farming, and small livestock management, including rabbits, goats, and chickens. With 15 active members, over 60% of whom are women, the project builds practical skills, confidence, and leadership while promoting food security, seed sovereignty, and resilient communities.

This model school is more than a learning space, it’s a hub for community transformation. By supporting the school, you are not just enabling education and skills training, you are empowering families, strengthening local food systems, and creating opportunities for entire communities to thrive.

ECD PROJECT

At the heart of Mvuthu, Luminous Organisation is building an Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre to give children a strong start in life. The centre will offer quality early learning, nutrition support, and a safe, joyful space to play and grow. Alongside classrooms, a vibrant play area will nurture creativity and social skills. To sustain the project, two hectares of land will be farmed using eco-friendly methods, providing food and income for the centre. This model blends education, sustainability, and community empowerment—creating a beacon of hope for Mvuthu’s children and their families.
